Please join us Thursday, March 7 at 1 PM Eastern / 10 AM Pacific for a report from NIF’s Israel Director, Mickey Gitzin and Sikkuy-Aufoq’s Co-Executive Director, Raghad Jaraisy, moderated by NIF’s Libby Lenkinski about how NIF is responding to this challenging time and how we are preparing for the future.
Speakers:
Mickey Gitzin is the director of the New Israel Fund in Israel. Prior to joining NIF, Mickey was the founding director of “Israel Hofsheet” (Be Free Israel), a leading grassroots organization fighting for separation of religion and state in Israel. Previously, Mickey was the spokesperson for MK Ilan Gilon (Meretz) and the Associate Director of “Festival BeShekel,” an organization advancing arts and culture in Israel’s geographic and socioeconomic periphery. After completing his military service as an intelligence officer, he served as a shaliach (emissary) in South Bend, Indiana for the Jewish Agency for Israel. Mickey holds a Master’s in Public Policy from University College-London, for which he received a Chevening Scholarship from the British Foreign Office and the British Council. In 2013, Mickey received NIF UK’s Human Rights Award, and in 2015, NIF’s Gallanter Prize for Emerging Israeli Social Justice Leaders.
Attorney Raghad Jaraisy was appointed Sikkuy-Aufoq’s Co-Executive Director in April 2023 after serving three years as Co-Director of the Equality Policy Department. As an attorney, Raghad brings with her extensive knowledge of human rights issues in general, and Palestinian civil rights in Israel in particular. She has a wealth of management experience: Before joining Sikkuy-Aufoq, Raghad worked for nine years at the Civil Rights Association in various positions, including Manager of the Department for the Promotion of the Rights of the Arab Minority in Israel. Raghad graduated with honors (majoring in public and international law) in the joint LL.M degree program of Tel Aviv University and Northwestern University in Chicago. She received her bachelor’s degree from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in a joint degree program in Law and Cognitive Sciences. Raghad lives with her partner and their two sons in Nof HaGalil.
