Vaccine Access in the Occupied Palestinian Territories

12 January 2021 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

With conflicting media reports, some of which suggest Israel is ignoring Palestinians in the rollout of its vaccination program, and others which claim that the Palestinian Authority rejected Israeli help to deliver vaccinations, we have invited a panel of experts to address what is actually happening on the ground.

As the debate around this issue becomes more and more heated, we hope this event will offer the opportunity to unpack some of the key issues.

We will be joined by Ran Goldstein, the Executive Director at NIFC project partner Physicians for Human Rights Israel, and leading Israeli human rights lawyer Michael Sfard.

They will discuss what Israel’s legal obligations are towards the Palestinians living in the occupied territories, how these fit with the Oslo Accords and whether these obligations need to be honoured if the Palestinian Authority has asked Israel not to provide support.

Ran Goldstein is Executive Director of Physicians for Human Rights-Israel (PHR-I). He was formerly Head of Communication for the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement Delegation to Israel and the Occupied Territories, and a senior Strategy and Communications Consultant to various Israeli Civil Society Organisations. PHR-I was the recipient of NIF UK’s Human Rights Award in 2019.

Michael Sfard is one of Israel’s leading lawyers specialising in international human rights law and the laws of war. He has represented a variety of Israeli and Palestinian human rights and peace organisations, movements and activists at the Israeli Supreme Court.
