Since the beginning of 2023, members of criminal organizations have shot and killed 103 Palestinian citizens of Israel. Our partners on the ground in Israel are campaigning to end the bloodshed, demanding a holistic approach from the government, and finding audiences in Hebrew, English and Arabic – because, as their campaign slogan reads, “We want to live.”
This crisis is the result of years of neglect by successive Israeli governments. Now, it’s been compounded by the rise of Itamar Ben Gvir, who was named minister of national security and put in charge of the police at the beginning of this year. None of this changes the fact that we will work-alongside our grantees and allies on the ground – for the right of every citizen of Israel to feel safe when they walk out their door.
Join our colleagues at New Israel Fund in the US to hear from activists and experts about the growing crisis and how civil society is working to solve it.
We will be joined by Fida Nara Tabony, Shatil’s director for Northern Israel, Sawsan Zaher, a prominent Palestinian human rights lawyer, and Mudar Yunis, chairman of the National Committee of the Heads of the Arab Local Authorities. The conversation will be moderated by Elisheva Goldberg, NIF’s senior director of media and policy.
