Over the past month, Israel’s government has set about enacting its extreme agenda, including tabling legislation against the judicial system and provocative moves escalating violence between Jews and Palestinians.

We must thank our Canadian elected leaders who have been bravely speaking out about the dangers of these acts. As violence escalates, we need their voices even more.

On February 21st, Liberal MP Ya’ara Saks issued a public letter opposing the proposed judicial reforms and on February 26th, condemned the violence in Huwara.

On February 14th, Global Affairs Canada under Minister Melanie Joly issued a statement warning against increased settlements, alongside earlier denunciations of terrorism.

On February 27th, NDP Foreign Policy Critic Heather McPherson tweeted her own objection to the violence in the West Bank, and to increased settlements.

Speaking up is critical at this time and NIFC appreciates the Canadian leaders who are standing up for Canada’s commitment to human rights and against violent escalation in Israel-Palestine.
