Since October 7th, NIF has followed the lead of those families whose loved ones are held captive in Gaza. We have seen it as our role, as the engine of Israeli civil society, to support them. That’s what we’ve been doing for the last fifteen months.

The Hostages and Missing Families’ Forum was formed less than 24 hours after the October 7th attacks. It is a coalition of volunteers, led by the families themselves. It includes senior figures in the security, judicial, communication, advertising, creative, and diplomatic sectors, all of whom have been fighting tirelessly to bring every last hostage home. NIF has supported the Forum from Day 1 — over the course of the last 15 months, we have given the organization hundreds of thousands of dollars in grants, and echoed their messages across Israel and North America.

Sunday the 19th was a special day for the Forum, and all of us, as three hostages — Emily Damari, Doron Steinbrecher, and Roni Gonen — were reunited with their families after more than 470 days in captivity. The video below, produced by the Forum offers a glimpse into just how emotional that day was for everyone involved. We pray that all of the hostages’ families will experience the joy of reunion soon.
