About the role
NIFC seeks a passionate “fundraiser organizer” to lead the efforts of our rapidly-growing donor community in Canada. Working under the Executive Director, the Development & Engagement Officer will work closely with other communications and events/programs staff, as well as NIF branches globally, to educate supporters of our priorities and increase overall giving. The candidate is capable of coordinating volunteer teams and soliciting gifts $1,000-$10,000, as well as detail-oriented and an excellent communicator.

Location: Toronto office with some work from home optional. This position includes 20% travel yearly to major cities across Canada and some Israel travel.

Salary: $65,000-$75,000, commensurate with experience, with comprehensive benefits and support for professional development.
Contract term: Full-time permanent, following three-month probationary period
Reports to: Executive Director

Responsibilities:
Development Operations
• Work closely with the Executive Director to develop and implement all aspects of the annual fundraising plan that includes individual gifts, major gifts, recurring gifts, and planned giving.
• Lead a year-round donor stewardship and solicitation program with significant Board and volunteer team participation.
• Monitor the overall progress of fundraising operations, prepare regular board reports, and conduct annual analysis.
• Support the Executive Director in all aspects of the major gift and planned giving programs.
• Conduct prospect research.

Individual Gifts
• Manage, solicit, and grow a portfolio of $1,000-$10,000 donors and prospects throughout all stages of the donor cycle, including necessary travel outside the Greater Toronto Area.
• Understand and convey compellingly the work and messages of our partners in Israel.
• Maintain accurate records through Raiser’s Edge CRM database.

Board and Volunteer Engagement
• Coordinate the stewardship and solicitation responsibilities of Board members and regional volunteer teams.
• Work directly with regional volunteer teams to plan and conduct activities in their communities, including working with the events staff on public events, private salons, public speaking, and local partnerships.
• Support and strengthen volunteers through organizing local and national trainings as well as one-on-one coaching.
• Grow the number of active volunteers and leaders.

Donor Engagement
• Work closely with other staff to engage donors and prospects with year-round educational and outreach programs.
• Lead the organizing of donor engagement events, including private salons and receptions.
• Recruit participants for study tours to Israel and arrange individual meetings in Israel, participating in these trips when needed.

Qualifications:
• Minimum 2-4 years of successful donor relations experience, including solicitation experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder relations skills.
• Proven ability to recruit, retain and mentor volunteers.
• Strong office technology skills, including Microsoft Office and fundraising CRMs. Experience with Raiser’s Edge is an asset.
• Familiarity with the Canadian Jewish community as well as social change and human rights issues in Israel.
• Ability to work some evenings and weekends, as well as travel.
• Permission to work in Canada.
