Over the last few weeks, NIF grantee Have You Seen the Horizon Lately has plastered Israel’s major traffic arteries with huge billboards reminding Israelis of something that, in the current political climate, they do not always feel: That they have a choice.

These billboards, each of which contrasts political choices, are meant to restore a sense of agency to a disempowered liberal Israeli centre. One day, the billboards seem to suggest, there will be elections in Israel. Until then, each person can choose how and what they try and voice, to push, to demand.

“Draft Haredim or expand reserve service?”

“Resettle the Gaza envelope or resettle Gaza?”

“Save the hostages or save the coalition?”

“Defend Israel’s borders or defend West Bank hilltops?”
