About the role
NIFC seeks a talented, creative, and passionate communications professional to lead our efforts to grow and tell our stories. The Communications Coordinator will play a key role in NIFC’s fundraising and outreach/education efforts. Adept at writing a range of communications materials, the successful candidate is a passionate storyteller who is comfortable producing digital fundraising, event marketing, and donor stewardship materials for a variety of platforms.
Working under the Executive Director, the candidate will work closely with the fundraising and events/programs teams, as well as NIF branches globally, to stay informed of our priorities and creatively convey our values. The candidate simplifies controversial issues into easily understood stories that bring Israeli civil society and social issues to life for our Canadian audiences.
Location: Toronto office with some optional work-from-home

Salary: $57,000-$72,000 commensurate with experience, with comprehensive benefits and support for professional development
Contract term: Full-time, permanent after three-month probation
Responsibilities:
- Take a lead role in developing and executing the New Israel Fund of Canada’s communications plans and strategies, including events, e-mail, social media, direct mail, paid ads, and earned media
- Maintain sound knowledge and understanding of the organization, its priority projects, and issues in Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories
- Demonstrate initiative and capacity to adapt while working across multiple tasks, competing deadlines, and various stakeholders
- Collaborate with counterparts at NIF branches in Israel, the US, as well as globally, to reshare and reuse content from a variety of platforms, including multimedia
- Evaluate and improve our communications, including content planning, content creation, evaluation, and reach
- Use Canva, Microsoft Word, and WordPress for layout of communications materials within existing templates, including proposals and stewardship impact reports
- Write and/or produce timely and engaging online content (including multimedia) that is optimized for a variety of platforms, including e-newsletters and social media
- Write and/or edit donor and grantee stories, including interviewing donors and grantees
- Write and design compelling marketing and production materials for webinars, in-person events, fellowships, and study tours overseas
- Write and design compelling fundraising campaign materials, including e-appeals, direct mail, webpages, social media, and volunteer scripts
- Write and/or edit fundraising and donor communications materials, including donor proposals and reports
- Prepare earned media materials as necessary, such as media releases and op-eds
- Conduct paid and unpaid online advertising programs
- Perform other duties as assigned or requested by the Executive Director
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years in a marketing, communications, or nonprofit fundraising role
- Proven ability to simplify complex topics into compelling narratives
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Exceptional written communication and editing skills
- Exceptional time management and organizational skills
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Office 365 Suite, Adobe, Canva, WordPress, and mass email CRMs such as Raiser’s Edge OLX
- Experience executing communications across a variety of platforms
- Experience with desktop publishing, graphic design, website design, and video editing
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Understanding of international human rights and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is an asset
- Understanding of the Canadian Jewish community is an asset
- Hebrew fluency is an asset
- Permission to work in Canada
