Vivian Silver was a Canadian from Winnipeg who moved to Israel and became a peacemaker. With a keen eye and an open heart, she fostered equality – between women and men, between Arabs and Jews – in Israeli society, and actively strived for peace in the region.
We lost Vivian on October 7th along with so many others on Kibbutz Beeri. In the months that followed, her sons Yonatan and Chen decided to memorialize their mother’s life by doubling down on her values – peace, Jewish-Arab partnership, and women’s leadership.
They established the Vivian Silver Impact Award – a prize that will be awarded annually to two women, Arab and Jewish, who show great promise or have demonstrated accomplishments in the embodiment of Vivian’s values and actions.
The Vivian Silver Impact Award will be given this year to Rula Hardal and May Pundak, co-directors of “A Land for All”. They are a Palestinian and a Jew who have chosen a very challenging path, especially now, to jointly lead an organization that works for a fair and equal solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
We invite you to join us to watch the award ceremony on Thursday, November 21st, at 1 pm Eastern / 10 am Pacific.
