6,000 people–Jews and Palestinians, young and old, from the country’s urban center and from the periphery–gathered in Tel Aviv last night for one of the largest peace events since October 7. Dozens of organizations, many of them NIF grantees and NIFC funded partners like Breaking the Silence, participated in the event held at the Menora Mivtahim Arena.
The event was organized under the slogan: “It’s time!” It called for “reaching a [cease-fire] deal, stopping the war, and signing a political agreement. It’s time to make peace.”
Families of hostages and October 7 victims, musicians, and cultural figures took to the stage, along with Israeli historian and author Yuval Noah Harari. Knesset members Na’ama Lazimi, Eldad Kariv, and Ayman Odeh led a slew of public figures and fellow parliamentarians, past and present, in committing themselves to a call for the return of hostages from Gaza and for an end to the war.
