The WWP Winnipeg event, Women for a Just Peace – in Palestine/Israel and at Home, is bringing together Winnipeggers from diverse faiths, ethnicities, and cultures to dialogue and engage with one another as they learn about and are inspired by peace initiatives taking place in Israel/Palestine and in Winnipeg.

Women Wage Peace (WWP), the largest grassroots peace organization in Israel/Palestine, was co-founded by former Winnipegger Vivian Silver, who devoted her life to building bridges between Israelis and Palestinians and to pursuing a just, non-violent resolution to the ongoing conflict in Israel/Palestine. The Winnipeg WWP group was established to remember Vivian and carry on her legacy by raising awareness about WWP and promoting dialogue between Jewish and Palestinian communities in Winnipeg.

Women for a Just Peace – in Palestine/Israel and at Home will begin with afternoon workshops devoted to storytelling and the art of listening compassionately, followed by an evening program featuring WWP original member, Rabbi Donna Kirshbaum, and the Bedouin Palestinian human rights activist, Dr. Amal Elsana Alh’jooj. The program also will include entertainment from local singer/songwriter Orit Shimoni, and video messages from Israeli and Palestinian peace activists.
