Standing Up to Settler Violence

Monday, November 10
12 PM ET / 11 AM CT / 9 AM PT

Virtual—Zoom link provided upon registration*

In the weeks since the Gaza ceasefire took effect, settlers have targeted Palestinian communities in the West Bank with ever-increasing violence. Extremist settlers’ physical attacks, arson, harassment, and intimidation, already on the rise since October 7, have intensified dramatically. The escalation coincides with the olive harvest season, traditionally a time of celebration and community. Instead, extremists are wounding dozens of Palestinians daily, uprooting hundreds of mature olive trees, and setting fire to cars, homes, and anything else they can get their hands on.

Please join us on November 10 at 12 PM ET  / 11 PM CT / 9 AM PT for an online discussion about what NIF grantees are doing to block this violence, Palestinian displacement, and creeping annexation, and insist on a future of dignity and human rights for all.

We will hear directly from Palestinian anti-occupation activist Eid Hathaleen from the West Bank village Umm al-Khair, and two directors of human rights organizations, Ziv Stahl of Yesh Din and Avi Dabush of Rabbis for Human Rights, who have first hand experience with settlers on the ground as they document the uptick in violence. These are people who are working every day to build a future where all Palestinians and Israelis can be safe and free.

SPEAKERS

Eid Suleiman Hathaleen is a self-taught artist and anti-occupation and peace activist from the Palestinian Bedouin village of Umm Al Khair. The village is located in the South Hebron Hills area of the West Bank. In January 2022, Hathaleen’s father was killed after being hit by an Israeli police vehicle; no one was convicted for his murder. On 28 July 2025, Hathaleen’s cousin Awdah, also a prominent activist, was killed by an Israeli settler who did not face any charges

Rabbi Avi Dabush is the director of Rabbis for Human Rights (RHR), an inter-denominational movement in Israel promoting human rights and an end to the occupation of the West Bank. RHR works to spread awareness and is motivated by the Jewish belief that every person was made in the image of God. Avi was born in southern Israel to a religious, right-wing, Mizrahi family. Over the last two decades, he has been involved in and has led several social organizations and movements, including the Negev Council and the Movement of the Peripheries. He was one of the organizers of the Equality March in 2016 and 2022. Avi also worked for Shatil at NIF for several years. He is the author of the book The Periphery Rebellion and a regular op-ed contributor for Haaretz and Israel Hayom. Avi was recently ordained at Beit Midrash for Israeli Rabbis, holds an MA in organizational sociology from Ben Gurion University of the Negev, and is a graduate of the Heschel Institute Sustainability Leadership program.

Ziv Stahl has served as executive director of Yesh Din since April 2022. She has been with Yesh Din since 2010, mostly serving as director of the research department. Ziv is the author of many reports published by Yesh Din in the recent decade, including ‘A Life Exposed: Military invasions of Palestinian homes in the West Bank’ (2020) and ‘Mock Enforcement: Law enforcement on Israeli civilians in the West Bank’ (2015). Ziv is a board member of both Zazim – Community Action and Akevot Institute for Israeli-Palestinian Conflict Research. She has an MA in political science from Tel Aviv University.
