Maoz Inon’s parents were killed by Hamas on October 7. Aziz Abu Sarah’s brother died after being detained and abused by the Israeli army. The world would’ve expected them to be enemies, but instead, they became brothers.
Their new book, The Future Is Peace, takes readers on a journey across Israel and the West Bank. Through the stories of their families and their peoples, they argue that more violence will never bring security. The only sustainable future is peace, equality, and reconciliation.
The New Israel Fund is proud to partner with Maoz and Aziz on their book tour in multiple cities across the United States this year. They are leaders of the NIF-supported movement for Israeli-Palestinian peace. Through their work, they’re redefining “peace” as something urgent, practical, and human.
When they speak, they don’t offer platitudes or abstractions. They are living proof that a different future is possible, and that it starts with the courage to choose it.
See for yourself. On Tuesday, April 14, NIF hosted a virtual conversation with Maoz, Aziz, and their collaborator Mika Almog, an activist organizing a mass peace event called the “People’s Peace Summit,” the national convening of the NIF-sponsored “It’s Time Peace Coalition” that will be held at the end of the month.
While the current leg of their US tour concludes in the next few weeks, the NIF global network will continue to support Aziz and Maoz when they return for future book events this fall. NIF will be sharing more opportunities to engage, learn, and feel the hope that they’ve created through their relationship and their work.
Maoz and Aziz believe that hope cannot be found. It must be built. That’s the message the NIF network is proud to carry alongside them: that even now, after so much violence and suffering, the future is not fixed. It belongs to those who imagine it differently and build peace.
