Solidarity of Nations – Achvat Amim is a unique four-month movement-building project that directly engages with the reality of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict through grassroots human rights work and critical education, based on the core value of self-determination for all peoples. Rooted in Jewish values and the pursuit of a more just world, Achvat Amim offers activists from abroad a path to finding their place in the movement for peace, justice and human rights alongside Israelis and Palestinians.
We cannot overstate the importance of critical education that is founded in relationships and solidarity. Our program does not theorize the conflict or even merely expose participants to the reality of occupation. We bring people into community where they are empowered to become active agents in theories of change. We combine language education, activist beit midrash, and workshops led by activists and scholars who devote their work and life to building a world without occupation.
We join scholars and activists who commit their lives to co-resistance to the systems of domination and separation that tear us apart. From Sderot to Rahat to Masafer Yatta, we accompany participants to listen, interrogate and inquire: how does understanding the way power works empower us to unlearn relations of domination and instead establish relations of reciprocity in their place?
From tatreez (Palestinian embroidery) workshops, to lectures with interdisciplinary scholars and activists, to weekly Beit Midrash, to meetings with the Mizrahi Black Panthers, to work days in Masafer Yatta, to tours of Hebron, Jerusalem, Beer Sheva, Haifa, and Yaffa alongside our partners in Breaking the Silence, Zochrot, and more – we show it all and encourage participants to bring their full selves. Participants join human rights and community-based organizations that allow them to both learn from and help build the movement. Together, we empower and educate Jewish community to act in partnership with Palestinian and Israeli activists.
Now more than ever, we live in a context of increased separation. Separation between Israeli and Palestinian societies, and between the reality on the ground and the discourse in the West, which affect all who live in Israel-Palestine. These separations further entrench the occupation and growing inequality. There is a growing demand for critical educational frameworks, grounded in solidarity and strong communities that encourage true change-making.
These systems of domination are ours to dismantle through solidarity, education, and community, but we need your help. Now more than ever, the same forces that sow division, misinformation, and war are targeting programs like ours with serious campaigns of intimidation that put us at risk of losing funding.
At this crucial moment, we continue to run critical programming on the ground and stand alongside our partners. Educational and activist spaces need your support now more than ever. In order to run this program in the upcoming year, we are aiming to raise $15,000 dollars from supporters in Canada in order to support our Spring Semester. Your donation will:
– Fund speakers, educators, civic organization leaders, and artists that speak on behalf of their communities
– Increase our scholarship pool to maintain accessibility to our programming for people from all class backgrounds
– Fund transportation for participants to and from the West Bank
– Fund critical education
– Strengthen Jewish-Palestinian partnerships rooted in solidarity
– Foster the next generation of Jewish leaders fighting for a more just and equitable future for all
As the only program of its kind, we are proud to be able to walk alongside our partners, participants, and alumni. We want to continue to build and sustain a strong, compassionate, and engaged anti-occupation Jewish community that works beyond all borders and barriers. We hope you consider making a donation, every little bit helps.
This campaign is now completed.
